TRNSMT and their controversial line-up.

We recently saw Glasgow Indie and Rock TRNSMT Festival release their 2019 line-up. The Scottish festival has seen huge names play over years prior including Brit Award winners ‘Arctic Monkeys’, ‘Kasabian’ and ‘Radiohead’. Names such as ‘The Killers’, ‘Liam Gallagher’ and Liam Frays ‘Courteeners’ have also played on the stage. Therefore, it is no wonder there is always a buzz waiting for TRNSMT line-up to be released.

The Headliners of 2019 are Glastonbury headliner ‘Stormzy’, ‘Catfish And The Bottlemen’ and pop solo artist ‘George Ezra’. The ‘Budapest’ singer has been announced as a headliner for many festivals this year including ‘Isle Of Wight’, ‘Latitude’ and ‘Parklife’. However, this has come to some criticism of the Scottish festival who are seen to be straying away from their Indie genes as shown in rap artist ‘Stormzy’. However, it is hard to ignore the indie artists on the lineup such as 'The Hunna' and 'DMA's' but should there be more?

However, there is no denying it will be a great festival with other huge sub-headliners on the line-up including British band ‘Bastille’, Scotland’s own ‘Gerry Cinnamon’ and ‘Snow Patrol’. Names also on the line-up include ‘The Wombats’, ‘Example’ and much more. Go on TRNSMT official website to check out the rest of the acts.

The summer festival has also seen criticism over the lack of female artists on this years line-up, with only 20% being female. These names include ‘Jess Glynn’, ‘Mable’ and ‘Sigrid’. The festival boss hit back stating he would rather more female artists “But it’s also about developing female artists to make them into headliners.”

TRNSMT takes place on Glasgow Green, the second weekend of July and tickets are not yet on sale but will be soon. Day passes cost just under £60 (plus booking fee) while 3-day weekend passes work out around £160. VIP packages and instalment payments are also possible. The festival unfortunately does not accommodate camping, but the website offers best alternative for those buying weekend passes including offering discount with their partners Hotels.com.
