The beauty that is Lana Del Rey

Lana Del Rey recently graced our music library with her 5th Studio album, Norman Fucking Rockwell.

The 34 year old has given us all emotions over her past albums with her raw and angelic voice, a unique voice in the current musical scene.

It’s an American daydream conveyed in an album for the poet and songwriter. California and Venice Bitch, aludes to the Brooklyn Baby and West Coast - American dreams.

In the age of reform in the U.S, Elizabeth Grant (Lana Del Rey) uses Normal Rockwell who painted the dream of Americans around the Country. Del Rey no longer performs in front of the USA flag.

The American has rightfully established herself as a beautiful writer.

The album itself is playful, self reflective and emotionally involved; in a typical Lana fashion.

The fun element is drawn attention in Bartender, the 12th song in the 14 song album. Flirty behaviour with a Barman and living freely as a girl in America.

The Title Track, Norman Rockwell can not be ignored in using this same tone. The opening track describes a boyfriend as a ‘man-child’ and blaming the news for bad poetry.

The lyrics by the poet are always worth closely listening to, so as to understand more deeply what the thoughts behind the complicated levelAmerican are.

The 9 minute sweetly sounding Venice Bitch, is my upmost favourite. The song tells of heartbreak while speaking of California as the land of promise. A beautiful and emotional listen.

Another emotional listen is Love Song, you feel like a giddy teenager falling in love. The song is uncomplicated and focuses on the beauty of Del Reys voice. The fast cars and long struck feelings are something that makes you want to fall in love again, and again.

No one can ignore the NYC singers take on Sub-Limes Doin’ Time. Taking a pop-reggae song and creating it into a lullaby song is a work of art.

Normal Fucking Rockwell, arguably one the singers best album.

Correct?

Yes! Totally agree! Before this album, I was always so fascinated with Lana's range and her ability to borrow from different genres and element of pop culture, so it certainly was satisfying to hear this album. Definitely some of her best work!
