Saturday Night at Heaton Park.

Manchester Band Courteeners played their well talked about show Saturday Night to 50,000 dedicated fans at Heaton Park.

The night was full of colourful flares, mud soaked shoes and expensive beers. And don’t we wish we were there?

It wasn’t just an evening of ‘Not Nineteen Forever’ but a day of ‘Sit Down’ James, fellow Mancunian Pale Waves and Australian DMAS; any indie fans dream.

Liam Fray and co arrived in style in a Helicopter following a performance at Isle Of Wight Festival the evening before, arguably the pre warmup for what we yet to come.

The four-piece came out to classic ‘What’s The Story Morning Glory?’ and 50,000 fans erupted into cheers, chants all ready for the night.

Bursting out confetti which encourage the number or colourful flares to fill the sky, Courteeners played their iconic ‘Are You In Love With A Notion?’. The crowd turned to chaos.

The band referenced the past couple of years claiming it to be one of the toughest, with Heaton Park being a celebratory moment away from this. ‘Here Comes The Young Men’ was then broken into as words of encouragement.

The party carried on including classics like ‘Acrylic ‘, ‘The Opener’ and ‘The 17th’.

Heaton Park came to a slow pace when Liam Fray played favourite B-Side, ‘Smiths Disco’. It was decided against St Judes’ ‘Please Dont’. Not bad for a B-Side Liam remarks on.

Fray who grew up in Middleton, practically seconds away from the gig references his ‘home’, getting emotional.

A few new songs were documented, ‘Hanging off Your Cloud’ and ‘Heavy jacket’. We know new music is coming but not when.

The party rounded up with the only way a Courteeners party could, ‘What Took You So Long?’, ‘Not Nineteen Forever’.

Thank you Courteeners for over 10 years, treasure this moment. Stay on Cloud 9.
