Noel Gallagher and his Friday night headliner slot.

Nöel Gallagher and his High Flying Birds were booked to play the Friday night headliner slot at this year’s Isle Of Wight Festival.

This slot over the year has seen huge names take to the stage including Sterephonics, The Prodigy and Snow Patrol; and Nöel is no exception to these historic legends.

The Friday main stage saw some big indie names including Liam Frays’ Courteeners who named it a ‘warm up’ before their huge Heaton Park show last night.

DMAS, James and Scottish Gerry Cinnamon also graced the main stage. If you’re an indie fan, friday was the day for you!

So, how was Nöel Gallaghers performance?

His set list featured old Oasis classics (of course), and songs from all 3 albums plus new controversial song ‘Black Star Dancing’.

Opening up with ‘Fort Knox’ was a great choice from the Gallagher brother; a lively song for a lively festival crowd.

‘Holy Mountain’, ‘AKA What a Life’ and ‘Everybody’s on the run’ also brought more party to the Friday night set.

However, as much as we love ‘Dead In The Water’ was it the best choice for a festival?

Fans expect classic songs to dance and sing along to and we just believe this is to depressing.

Despite being Oasis classics, ‘Little by Little’ and ‘Half The World Away’ which featured on the set may have numbed the crowd just as much.

Never the less, Nöel delivered a great evening and in Nöel style finished covering The Beatles ‘All You Need Is Love’.
