Grande performed her first headlining set at the California festival which was full of surprises, some good some bad.
The 25 year old singer recently released her number 1 hit album ‘thank u, next’ earlier this year and showcased a number of our favourite tracks including ‘NASA’, ‘break up with your girlfriend, I’m bored’ and ending with ‘thank u, next’. She opened up with ‘God Is A Women’.
The Nickelodeon stars set included boyband NSYNC, Diddy and Nicki Minaj.
NSYNC was brought on stage through a rendition of ‘break up with your girlfriend, I’m bored’ and the band performed their 1997 hit ‘Tearin’ Up My Heart’.
Grande had teased this on social media prior to Sunday nights performance.
Following NSYNC Ariana hosted her second of three guests of the evening, P Diddy and Ma$e. They performed to the Coachella crowd Mo Money Mo Problems. There set was riddled with sound problems and they weren’t the only ones.
38 year old Nicki Minaj was brought on stage as Grande began to close her set for the evening. The rapper alongside Grande performed ‘Side to Side’ and ‘Bang Bang’. Though, fans were furious as Minaj was barely heard and was noticeably touching her ear piece throughout the set. Even Ariana called out about this problem.
The set ended not soon long after as tweets suggest Coachella producers hurried up her set.
Fireworks closed off the set but videos showed the danger this caused to fans who were ducking and burying themselves from the bits that sparked off.
So, Ariana Grandes set was largely let down by the managers, sound system and Coachella itself.
But this did not stop her putting on a great performance.
