Beyond the music - Glastonbury

Glastonbury. World famous for the number of huge acts that have taken to the stage over the years such as David Bowie, Muse and Beyoncé. The festival each year sees thousands of artists playing all over the gigantic field that is Glasto; music can be seen and heard from anywhere ranging from the well-known Pyramid stage to pubs to DJ tents. You are never far from any live music at the festival.

However, the Worthy Farm festival has more to it than just music and artists. A number of people come each year, not for the music, but for what else Glastonbury has to offer. We’re going to discuss everything beyond the music that is worth checking out over your weekend at the one of a kind Festival.

° The Rabbit Hole

The ‘Alice and Wonderland’ themed bar is open to all and located at top of Parks Field and worth a visit if you can get in! Follow the tunnels and answer the riddles to gain access to this hidden gem. It even has a Hot Tub!

° The Underground Piano Bar

The bar has become a well talked about topic for those attending Glastonbury, as very few have found it. It’s a thing of legends. Michael Eavis claims this hidden Irish Bar is his favourite part of Glastonbury. It moves every year so if you ever find it be sure to take up the opportunity of a lifetime.

° The Stone Circle

Whether this is your 1st or 50th visit to the festival it is always worth walking to top of Stone Circle just to take the whole festival in. The best times and most popular time to do so is sunset or sunrise. It is a view like no other. Do not miss the opening night fireworks.

° The Healing Fields

The original Hippy feel of the festival is still there that many years later, despite all the changes and expansions of the festival. The Healing Field is well worth a visit just to experience the other side of Glasto. It offers all types of wonderful things such as Yoga, Massages and much more.

° The Kidzfield

The field has been there over 23 years and well worth a visit; it even has its own line-up for over the weekend! Glastonbury is for any age and with kids 12 and under being free it is well worth bringing them to this magical festival and where else to take them other than the Kidzfield? It has its own circus, play areas and stages for all the acts.

° Shangri-la

Something not so much for the kids! Shangri-la is one of the festivals most buzzing after-hours area and something not to miss. Expect the unexpected.

° Arcadia

Though Arcadia is set to change for 2019, there is no doubt they are bringing in something bigger and better. The spectacular sees circus like performances, jaw dropping acts and constant fire and lights. Be sure not to camp near as you will not get a wink of sleep.

° Cider Bus.

A pub crawl goes without saying for Glastonbury with the number of quirky pubs and bars across the field and the Cider Bus should be at the top of the list. It is exactly what it explains, a double decker bus selling cider.

° Cineramageddon – The drive-in cinema

In 2017 the festival welcomed a new vintage drive in style cinema, in which viewers hop in one of the number of cars on offer, put on the headphones and watch the film. Just like in the movies! Expect it is mutated and shows old rusty cars and cars sunk in the ground.

° Eat!

Glastonbury is famous for its huge range of food on offer from all over the globe! The festival tries to keep prices reasonable by a number of the stalls offering ‘food for a fiver’. The Goan Seafood Company. Annie Mae's Mac & cheese. Club Mexicana. Wholefood Heaven. Voodoo Ray's. The 50p Tea Ten are firm favourites of festival goers.

So whatever you get up to at Glastonbury, make sure to save time for things beyond the music!
