Ariana Grande and her hit album,'thank u, next'.

Updated: Feb 8, 2019

Today we saw the release of Ariana Grande’s 5TH studio album ‘thank u,next’, her second album in sixth months after last years release of ‘sweetner’. Alongside a brand new music video for ‘break up with your girlfriend, im bored’. The new video features ‘Riverdales’ Charles Manton.

The album is the fastest in history to reach Number 1 on iTunes. Within 5 minutes of a midnight release the new album claimed top spot. Which is to no surprise following the large successes of the singles of ‘thank u, next’ and ‘7rings’; Grandes surprisingly first number one hits.

Ariana Grandes album comes following an emotional 6 months following the overdose of ex ‘Mac Miller’ and the end of an engagement with comedian ‘Pete Davidson’. This tough time is something notable within the new album which offers both beat and raw emotion as emphasised in the lyrics of ‘Needy’; “lately Iv been on a rollercoaster, tryna get a hold of my emotions”.

The 12 track album from the pop princess, sees no features artists but despite this it will be her most famous yet. Ariana sees a change from ‘Sweetener’ taking a more RnB and beat approach such as ‘fake smile’, something which was expected following the release of ‘7 Rings’. Despite this she sticks to her ability of a high range of vocals, something important in her success. The singles and album are already a great success and set to become even bigger, already breaking records on its first day of release. Leaving us to question what other records are set to be broken following the release. Will it be the biggest album of 2019?
